One of the key elements for a successful picnic is choosing the perfect spot. And, what spot is more perfect than St. Simons Island?
Our Island is packed with scenic locations with water views and century-old live oaks that provide plenty of shade. Whether you’re looking for a romantic date spot or a fun park for friends and/or family, St. Simons Island offers the ultimate outdoor dining excursions.
1. Neptune Park

An oceanfront public park with picnic tables under oak trees, a children’s playground, a miniature golf course, pool area, and plenty of benches for dining al fresco by the sea. Dogs are allowed, too!
- 110 Mallery St.
2. Bloody Marsh National Monument
The Bloody Marsh site commemorates the final Spanish challenge to the British colony of Georgia. After almost a century of territorial dispute between England and Spain over Georgia, British triumphs at Gully Hole Creek and Bloody Marsh on July 7, 1742, put an end to Spanish claims. Besides its importance in the geopolitical context of colonial America, Bloody Marsh also holds ecological significance as it is a coastal wetland habitat with unique biodiversity.
Located overlooking the marsh, this spot offers tables with picnic-perfect and picture-perfect scenic views. Plus, it’s a place to dine on an exact spot that changed our Country’s history. How often do you have that kind of opportunity?!
- 1806 Old Demere Rd.
3. Massengale Park
This spot boasts beach access with ADA-accessible mats, ample restroom facilities, picnic tables with four grills and a playground for the kiddos. Messengale is a wonderful spot to swim in the ocean and break for a picnic lunch. The tables are shaded by stately live oaks that beat the heat. There are even showers on site to rinse off the sand before you eat.

4. Frederica Park
With 20 acres of land, sports fields, a playground and two picnic pavilions, Frederica Park is a great place to picnic with the whole family. The Sea Island Company gifted the park to theĀ St. Simons Land Trust. Nature lovers can walk off your meal at Alice Richards Botanical Trail. The little ones will enjoy a pre- or post-picnic visit to the Trail’s faerie houses and labyrinth in the woods. And don’t forget to bring Fido, as there is a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs.
