New Year’s Eve Shrimp Drop
Join in on the countdown as we say goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2026 with Bob the Shrimp! The Brunswick Downtown Development Authority invites you to the annual Shrimp Drop on Saturday, December 31, beginning at 6 pm for live music with SQUIRT GUN, food trucks, axe throwing with Hauling Axes, and fun inflatables for the kids at Mary Ross Waterfront Park.

New Year’s Eve Celebration at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation
Step into the New Year with history, heritage, and a journey through America’s past at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site. There will be a guided hike through the moss-draped Live Oak trees that Hofwyl is so famous for. The hike will end at the plantation area where participants will ring in America’s 250th with stories highlighting Revolutionary War-era family members. These include: a signer of the Declaration of Independence; a secret agent working with Benjamin Franklin and John Adams in Europe; and the owner of a fleet of privateers preying on British shipping.
At 11:30 p.m., guests will gather for refreshments cookies, sparkling cider, and fellowship before moving to the Commissary Barn to ring the historic plantation bell at midnight and sing Auld Lang Syne under the moss-draped oaks.
Following the celebration, from 12:00–12:30 a.m., visitors may enjoy a brief late-night tour of the Hofwyl Plantation House, furnished with antiques dating back to the 1750s. While waiting to enter, guests are welcome to explore the grounds and historic outbuildings. Visitors will end their evening at Hofwyl with a peaceful, lighted walk back to the parking area — a quiet close to a night of history, camaraderie, and new beginnings.
