The commercial brewing of beer has taken place since at least 2500 B.C.
Brewing was initially a cottage industry, with production taking place at home. Today, the process of brewing in local breweries is common. But, each beer and brewing technique differs from brewery to brewery. Below are three local spots that make their own crafts that you should try.
1. Barrier Island Brewing: bibssi.com
Barrier Island Brewing opened its doors in late October 2019.
They offer a unique experience that celebrates craftsmanship and promotes local food, beverages, and artisans. Barrier Island Brewing brews all beer on site using the innovative SmartBrew system, which, partnered with Brian Watson (one of the most celebrated and respected BrewMasters on the planet) allows us to craft some seriously tasty beers.
SmartBrew allows the experts to create a flawless high-gravity wort and, once on site, we can fine-tune the beer by adding the dry-hops, flavorings, and yeast to sate local taste.
In addition to their craft beer selection, they offer craft and beer cocktails, and wine options. That’s not even mentioning the food–everything goes good with beer!
2. Webers Growlers Factory: webersgrowlerfactory.com
40 Craft Taps – featuring 37 craft beers, two ciders, and one soda. Webers Growlers serves pints and four-ounce pours to drink on-premise, and 32oz and 64oz Growlers of fresh craft beer to-go. They offer a large variety of single bottles and cans of crafts, hard cider, and hard soda. Floats, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, are also available!
